Hostelling International USA (HI USA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit, member organization founded on an enduring belief in the power of travel to foster a deeper understanding of people, places and the world around. We promote a dynamic community of global citizens who have the wisdom and humanity to actively make the world a better place. We believe in making travel accessible to everyone, giving back to the communities where our hostels reside, and creating truly transformative life experiences for our guests.
For over 80 years, HI USA has provided a network of affordable hostels and offers a unique and local stay experience, with a wide range of engaging activities, events, and educational programs that enrich the travel experience and create opportunities for greater intercultural awareness and understanding.
You can get involved in HI USA’s mission to “inspire a genuine understanding of people, places, and cultures for a more tolerant world” no matter where you live. HI USA has opportunities for volunteers across its network of more than 50 hostels all over the country. And with travel workshops, educational programs, Meet-Up groups, and more in San Diego and beyond, you don’t need to live near one of our hostels to get involved!
